West Tennis Downs Schaumburg 5‑0
The Maine West varsity tennis team continues to show signs of brilliance, and other times the team lets down. The brilliance was shown in the 5-0 win over Schaumburg.

In the Schaumburg meet held May 7 at Maine West the Warriors were in command from the start. Winners were John Minardi, first singles: Bob Wyatt, second singles Tom Gebhardt, third singles: Mike Hand and Tim Keenly, first doubles: and Mike Maday and Shawn Nesbit, second doubles.

In the Titan Invitational May 1 the Warrior netmen placed third. Outstanding performers were Minardi in singles and the doubles team of Hand and Keenly. The varsity was not as successful against Niles North on May 4 as they were beaten 4-1.
The only win came as the result of the doubles team of Hand and Keenly. The meet on May 6 against Glenbrook South was rained out. The varsity now has a record of 5-6.

On the sophomore level in a meet against Niles North, the Warriors were defeated 3-2. The winners were Dick Gearhart in second singles and the second doubles team of Andy Packard and Bob Unfer.

Against Schaumburg the sophomore netmen won 4-1. Winners were Jeff English, Dick Gearhart, Ken Quinn and Jeff Cook in doubles, and the team of Andy Packard and Bob Unfer in doubles. The sophomore record is now 9-2 for the year.
