Baccalaureate, Commencement
To End Year
The 1976 graduates will gather in the Herman L. Rider Gymnasium for the Baccalaureate on Sunday, June 6, at 3 p.m.
The Baccalaureate will begin with the processional consisting of the March of Meistersingers" by Wagner and Herfurth and "Coronation March" from The Prophet." The Baccalaureate Orchestra will be conducted by Mr. Francis Vaupel. The invocation will be given by Rosemary Adams, class vice‑president.
Next, a scripture reading will be read by Julie Gutzmer, class secretary. The anthem will consist of "Psalm 150" by Kent Newbury and Creation" by Willy Richter. The Baccalaureate Concert Choir will be conducted by Mr. Donald Lord. The sermon, "The Teacher Who Would Not Answer Questions," will be given by the Reverend Garry Scheuer, Jr.
The hymn will be America, the Beautiful" by Bates and Ward. After the hymn, Susan Gibson, class treasurer, will read the benediction; and then comes the recessional consisting of Grand March" by Verdi and Isaac and Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar and Isaac.
On Thursday, June 10, at 7. p.m. all the seniors will meet in the Herman L. Rider Gymnasium for the Seventeenth Annual Commencement Exercises.
Starting the Commencement will be the fanfare by the Commencement Band and the processional including "Pomp and Chivalry" by Roberts and Grand March" by Verdi. The Commencement Band will be conducted by Mr. Paul Magnusson. Following the processional will be the presentation of the colors followed by the National Anthem. After this will be the invocation presented by the Reverend Howard Peckenpaugh, from St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
The presentation of the Retirement Awards will be given by Mr. James Coburn, principal, to Mr. Joseph McGillis and Mr. Kenneth Olson. Mr. Coburn will next introduce the class president, Carol Jacobsen, who will present the welcome address and introduction of the class scholars. Then the Class of '76 will sing the Maine West Alma Mater.
Presentation of the class will come next by Dr. Richard Short, superintendent, followed by the acceptance of the class by Mrs. Charlotte Storer, Board member. Next, Mrs. Ann Evans, Mr. William Schaefle, and Mrs. Charlotte Storer will participate in the presentation of diplomas. Ending the Commencement Exercises will be the recessional including Pomp and Circumstance" and "Grand March."
The graduates' names will be announced by Mr. Daryl Schulz and Mr. George Walker, Jr.
