Anne Maurice Thanks
Maine West, A.F.S.
By ANNE MAURICE

Some of you know me, some don't; therefore, I will introduce myself. My name is Anne Maurice, and I am one of the two A.F.S. students at Maine West. I come from France and A.F.S. gave me the opportunity to come for one year to your country and particularly to Des Plaines.

I say "gave me" because this year will end in two weeks when I shall take my plane home.

I arrived at the beginning of Aug. '75 and those 10 months were for me a great experience. Sept. 2 was a memorable day! My first day at Maine West! The days before I was extremely anxious to know what my school would be like, and I must say what I found pleased me a lot.

I really like Maine West, and this is because of the friendliness of everybody: administration and faculty, as well as the student body. This friendliness helped me very much to get adjusted very quickly and easily to Maine West, and I hope that you will always remain as friendly for the future AFSer's.
I got involved in the V‑Show in November; then I joined the Concert Choir. The concerts we gave from time to time were fantastic. Until Christmas I did not do too much with A.F.S. since I had to adjust to my new family and to my new life. But it changed a lot in January. I started to be away in other schools for weekends or international day.

I also gave speeches and showed slides from France. I went also to many meetings and parties, and it became more and more difficult for me to keep up with my homework and my job at MacDonald's (I got fired in March.)

When spring came, I took my bike out again and ran around. After a wonderful spring vacation in the Caribbean Islands, another marvelous time awaited me, my parents and my little brother came all the way from France to visit me for five days over Easter break.

A few weeks later a change happened in my life. I moved to another family, and this nicely completed my experience for it showed me the life in two different families. School is now practically over and after all those months, I have only a few things to say: "Thanks to all of you; thanks to Maine West; and thanks to A.F.S."
