Attitudes Toward Future
Determine Success
These hallowed halls of Maine West must now bid goodbye to another graduating class. Nobody knows the different roads their lives will lead them to, but the road to success is always a challenging one.
Many students will fail to recognize the importance of their high school education until it's too late. This fact will hit them, suddenly, as they make their first courageous climb in the business society.
For many of us, though, our schooling has not come to an abrupt halt; but instead it continues upward to higher achievements and goals. Almost three‑fourths of the graduating class this year are continuing on in college.
Some students have already established a meaningful role in society. This could have to do with a well‑paying, pleasant job or just as happily married couples. No matter what road each individual has chosen for himself, in his opinion, that will be the best choice.
As I reflect for a moment on my past four years at Maine West, I recall many happy and seemingly disastrous moments. These incidents may have ranged from receiving a first decent report card to being sent to S-201 for the first time at Maine West.
Many will shed tears on their last joyous moment of walking down the graduation aisle, and others will sigh with relief. Hopefully, the ones who couldn't wait to get out won't suddenly discover that they need the security of school once more.
Nothing is impossible if you are willing to strive for it. Attaining a specific goal depends entirely on the individual. Nobody knows where the two roads of happiness and success will meet, but the individual who meets the standards of dedication and a well‑disciplined attitude will surely be heading in the right direction.
