For the last couple of months, many honors have been bestowed upon students in various departments here at Maine West for the 1975-76 school year.
The speech and drama awarded many honors. Joe Anderson '76 was chosen Best Supporting Actor" for the year. Mary Jo Zalabak was chosen "Best Supporting Actress." Steve Pelinski '77 was chosen "Best Actor" and Megan Peterson '77 as "Best Actress." For best male and female cameo parts, Carrie Mack '76 and Kevin Marquette '78 were selected. Scott Peckenpaugh '76 won the Best Thespian Award.
In the Science Department three juniors were awarded scholarships to attend a one week environmental workshop. The students chosen were Mike O'Neal, Terhilda Garrido, and Jim Evans. All students received these scholarships for being loyal Science Club members and showing their various specialized interest in the field of science.
Mike was also accepted into a five‑week engineering session at Northwestern University. He was one of 50 students in the United States to be chosen. He will learn the introductory skills needed in engineering, along with individual programs he will be allowed to pick on his own.
