Variety Show Brings 'Joy'
to Maine West
The 1975 Student Council Variety Show, consisting of 30+ acts, will open in the auditorium on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12. Since early September, when tryouts were held, and even earlier for directors, the cast and crew have spent many long hours preparing for the show.

A definite theme, which is being carried out where possible in each act, is what will make this V‑Show, "Joy to the World," exceptional. The show revolves around a theme of satire and madness which will be illustrated in the sets, designed by Mr. Robert Norris and Mary Jo Zalabak '76. The acts themselves carry out the theme. There will be a satire on cheerleaders, a satire on married life, and a parody on some

Bicentennial events, along with: a few instrumental numbers and dances performed by the dance chorus.
Other elements of the show: music, lights, sets, and costume designs have been developed and will soon have to be made ready to put together. Carrie Mack '76, head choreographer, and her assistants, Janet Seitz '76, and Lou Pontarelli '76, have had a few problems with music for their dances; but things are coming along well and should be ready for show time.

Tickets for the show will be sold in the bookstore in November. There will be one matinee performance on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. This performance for which grade school age people or large groups will be invited. Evening performances will be Nov. 13, 14, and 15 at 8 p.m.

When asked what kind of success this year's V‑Show might expect, Mary Jo Zalabak stated, "I think 'Joy to the World' will pull us out of a rut that former V‑Shows have been falling into."
