Lofgren Makes Things Happen
Student Council is changing its format this year. The reason behind the changes is to achieve two major goals: better communication, and increased responsibility on the part of committee chairpersons and officers.
The Council, headed by its officers: Jim Lofgren, president; Tina Voelker, vice‑president; Cheryl Romano, secretary, and Ken Wenz, treasurer, plans to achieve better communication in three aspects: student to student, by increasing the quantity and quality of homeroom reports; student to teacher, by having more events to bring students and teachers together; and student to administrator, by closing the gap between Student Council and the administration.
Basically Student Council activities will run the same schedule as last year with a few minor improvements and ideas along the way. Homecoming was a perfect example of these changes, featuring the outdoor pep assembly and the evening parade, giving more people a chance to participate in these activities.
Coming up on November 1 will be the annual AFS Pizza Day. Students can purchase these pizzas c.o.d. from any Student Council or AFS member.
"I feel that this year's Student Council and executive board members are all enthusiastic workers and really want to participate. All of us firmly believe in our '75-'76 theme, 'We can make it happen,' and I can guarantee the entire student body that we can," commented Jim Lofgren.
