VOL. XVII, NO. 2
After defeating Maine East, the Maine West golf team dropped two contests to Niles North and Glenbrook South. On Saturday, Oct. 4, the squad competed in the annual Conant Invitational, finishing seventeenth out of 30 schools.
The Conant meet was held at par 36 Golden Acres Country Club in Roselle on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The 30 schools competing played 18 holes instead of the usual 9 holes that is played for regular meets. The Warrior's low man was Bill Bucher who fired a 9 over 81.
Following close behind Bueher were teammates Bill Aslan and Mike Pardini, who tallied 83 and 84 respectively. George Seletos turned in an 87 to conclude the Warrior scoring.
At this stage of the game, the stickmen carry an overall record of 2 wins and 9 losses. This can be attributed to the tough schedule they play. Some of the top teams in the state are included in the Maine West competition schedule. Bucher remains the Warrior's number one man. He is consistently shooting around the 40 mark and is expected to show well in the district competition.
