Scott Polishes Up
'Joy to the World'
This year's V‑Show, "Joy to the World,' will be held on November 13, 14, and 15 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Before the sets and props must be completed. After school, the various crews work on getting not only sets and props together, but also sound arrangements, lighting, costumes, and publicity.

Student director Scott Peckenpaugh '76 is enthusiastic about the outcome of the show. He pointed out that, "Out of over 30 scenes, there are about 29 that are student-written."

Ken Wenz '76, Student Council treasurer, also believes that V-Show will be very successful. "This year, the V‑Show received a budget of $2,000, which is the same as last year. But even with this budget, the show is going to be good."

Publicity director Scott Jackson said, "Gayle Gyssler and I are working together to cover the school with posters advertising the show.

"Public billboards and posters around town will also be utilized, but word of mouth is about the most effective method. We're hoping that people who see previews of the show will spread the good word."

Not just anything that is written can get into the show. Of all the scenes written by students, only the best were accepted for the production. The balance of the show was purchased from a professional writing company.

V‑Show takes over six months of the year to complete. The process starts in May when the student director is selected. The director gets together with faculty sponsors, Mr. Ronald Mills and Mr. Bruce Nelson, to begin selection of the show's theme.

In August the student staff is selected and work on the theme is continued. The cycle ends in November with the actual stage production.
