West Golfers Defeat Niles East's Team
The Maine West golf team was victorious over Niles East on Oct. 7. They were not as fortunate on Oct. 10. finishing in fifteenth place out of 17 teams in the district competition.

The squad edged out Niles East by a narrow six‑stroke margin with the totals reading Maine West 168, Niles East 174. Mike Pardini and Scott Reed led the West scoring; both shot a 41. Bill Bucher fired a 42, and John Minardi added a 44 to conclude the Warrior scoring.

The frosh/soph squad defeated Niles East by 50 strokes, coming up with a 160 to 210 victory. Chris Serbin and Mike Franklin both fired a 38, and Steve Grueter and Mike Wieglos added the remaining scores.
The varsity team traveled to the district competition and placed fifteenth out of 17 schools on the par 70 Mount Prospect course. Maine West's 373 total included Mike Pardini's 85, Bill Bucher's 87, John Minardi's 89, and Steve Grueter's 92. Bill Bucher commented on the 1975 golf season saying. "The talent was there, and we had a good team, but we couldn't stay consistent."

The Warriors will conclude the season on Oct. 20, when they compete in the South Division Conference competition.
