Student Photo Contest
Northwestern University, located at 2145 Sheridan Road in Evanston. is hosting the 1975 engineering and science open house, Nov. 14 and 15. The public, especially teachers, seniors and juniors are invited to attend. The program will begin Friday, Nov. 14, from 7 to 10 p.m. and will continue Saturday from 10 am. to 2p.m.
Visitors are invited to play scientifically oriented games, watch demonstrations of scientific phenomena such as quicksand, glaciers, fluid beds, and simulated earthquakes. They can tour the eight departments of the institute and the research laboratories. There will also be talks on interesting topics. Professor L. Carroll King will present a lecture entitled Energy and Chemical Reactions" and James Morris, manager of University Glass Laboratory, will discuss the process of glass blowing.
Guests and Northwestern students are also urged to enter a photography contest. To enter the contest take either black and white or color pictures with only the available lighting.
There is Contest A and Contest B. Contest A consists of the best news interests photos taken by junior and senior high school students. Entries will be judged for visual appeal, control, composition, and print quality.
Grand prize for the best photo taken during the open house will be an 8mm movie camera outfit from Bell and Howell. The first prize for the best news photo is a framed $15.90 photo poster of your favorite photo. The second prize for best human interest photo is a $12.50 gift certificate from Poe's Camera Company.
The photographs will become the property of the Northwestern University Technological Institute. Entry forms are available in R-210 and at the university.
