Mr. John Graef Lauds
West's New Teachers
"This year Maine West is fortunate to have welcomed one of the finest groups of new teachers in the history of the school. They are without exception highly qualified, versatile, and fully understanding of the needs of young people," commented Mr. John Graef, assistant principal.

New arrivals in the Business Department include Mr. Daryl Brackensick and Mr. Jack Drollinger, teaching general business and business math; Ms. Betty Heraty, Steno II, Typing I, and general business; and Ms. Lynette McGinn, personal typing and general business.

Mr. Drollinger and Ms. McGinn are both graduates of Illinois State University, Mr. Brackensick is from Western Illinois University, and Ms. Heraty is a graduate of the University of Illinois.

The English Department welcomed two new reading specialists this year. They are Ms. Patricia Christeson, who is with the Action learning program, and Ms. Betsy Kremers. Ms. Christeson is from Northeastern Illinois State University, and Ms. Kremers has a degree from Iowa State University and a master's in education from the National College of Education.
The Driver Education Department welcomed Mr. Dan Mortier from Illinois State University. Mr. Stephan Zimmerman, from Chicago State University, is teaching Woods Technology I in the Industrial Education Department.

New in the Guidance Department is Ms. Jan McClellan, a social worker. Ms. McClellan said, "When I first arrived, I was impressed with how helpful everyone was. They made me feel very welcome and respected. The friendliness has continued, and I've formed real friendships, too!"

Ms. Sue Masellis is new in the Language Department. She is a graduate of Loyola University and is teaching all levels of French. The library welcomed Ms. Vicki Bixler to its staff this year. Ms. Boxler is from Coe College and Rosary College, where she has earned a master of arts and library science degree.

New in the Physical Education Departments are Mr. Scott Chovanec (boys) who is also teaching health, and Ms. Sally Schulenburg (girls).
