Archers Take First Place In
Central Suburban League
Finishing the season with a total team record of 22 wins and one loss, the girls' archery team ended up taking first place in the Central Suburban League. The team had a tournament record of 15-1 and a dual competition record of 7-0.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Maine West placed first in the Central Suburban League Meet held at Glenbrook North. Top scorer for the meet was a girl from Glenbrook North, but placing second was Leslie Blietz with a score of 400. Cheryl DeMichele placed third with a 398 and Barb Breider finished fourth with a 388.
During the season the archery team kept up a consistent winning record. They played three tournaments during the season, winning all three. In the 10‑school Prospect Invitational they took second place, and in the sixschool Central O'Hare Invitational they won the first place trophy. The archery team also won four of five awards at the Central Suburban meet at Glenbrook North.
Top archers this season were Leslie Blietz who finished with a total of 23 perfect ends. Barb Breider and Cheryl DeMichele also did very well this season Barb scoring 16 perfect ends and Cheryl scoring five. There was a total of 53 perfect ends shot this season.
