Soccer Becomes Rising Sport
By KATHY DALENBERG
The soccer team at Maine West should get more recognition than the other fall sport. Soccer has more action and speed and less time wasted with downs, huddles, intermissions, and timeāouts.
Soccer is not a sissy sport as many people think. Although the slogan for football is "kill the quarterback," the soccer players would rather massacre their opponent than just beat them. When I say massacre, I mean literally demolish them.
Enthusiasts who want a fast moving sport should become soccer fans. These players need the support of the Maine West students. They need great endurance to hustle across that field to gain that goal point. To revitalize their endurance, the players want fans to cheer them. School spirit should include visiting the soccer team when they play next year. Come on fans! Get into the craze! Soccer is quickly becoming a nationwide sport.
