Fencers Vie At Arlington Tonight
"The Maine West fencing team is looking good this season," said Miss Karen Kenyon, fencing coach. The fencers, she said, have a lot of support this year.
The fencers' two‑month season started last Wednesday with a meet against Arlington which took place at Arlington High School.
This year the fencing team turnout is exceptionally good. Maine West has a total of 60 girls on the fencing team.
These girls are split up into three groups, consisting of 10 girls on the varsity squad and 10 girls on the junior varsity squad. The remaining girls will fence in the Christmas tournament,
The top two fencers on the varsity squad are Terhilda Garrido and Barb Breider. Carol Krueger, Bonnie Moore, Marianne Wielgos, Karen Hoffman, Linda De Muth, Linda Miller, Janet Neetz, and Laura Sievers make up the rest of the varsity squad.
The next meet will be against Arlington at Arlington High School on Friday, Nov. 28. This year's fencing team will be a big success with all the support they have going for them.
