Gymnasts Work In Preparation
This year's varsity gymnastics team will open its 1975 season on Dec. 6 against the tough New Trier West Cowboys. Coach Sid Drain commented that a lack of depth and experience will be an important factor in the outcome of the season.

Coach Drain rests most of the weight on the strong and flexible shoulders of Pat Dent. Though Dent will compete as an all around man, his major event is floor exercise. Dent is the only senior who will be able to compete at the first meet, as senior John Pifke has been out with an illness. Pifke when recuperated should do a good job on the rings.

Trying to fill the gaps left by seniors last year, a group of juniors and sophomores are working hard to even out the squad. Greg Trecker and Mike Dalenberg will be working all around and will work extra hard on the side horse.
Mark Roque is doing quite well on the side horse, and Ray Redmond will work the still rings. Two others, Mark Vogel and John Nofts, have been coming around in their events and will be ready for the opener at New Trier West.

This team will not have an easy go of it this year as the competition will be super hard. Teams like Glenbrook South, Maine South, Maine East, Niles schools in general, and Evanston will all be looking for the CSL title this year.

Coach Drain hopes that as the year progresses, more fans will come down to A-wing gym and watch an exciting and artistic sport. The gymnasts have been working hard for quite some time now, and some student backing and spirit would very greatly help this young team.
