Mr. Blanas Hosts Classical Concert
Mr. Arnold Brostoff, violinist, and Mr. Sheldon Shkolnik, pianist, will give a concert Thursday, Jan. 15, 1976. It will be held at 2 p.m. in the Maine West auditorium.

Mr. Brostoff and Mr. Shkolnik are members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This concert marks the second consecutive year they will have played at Maine West. Mr. George Blanas, Art Department chairman, said, "They were pleased with Maine West last year and are looking forward to coming back." There will be time for questions after the performance.

The selected compositions for the afternoon are a Franck Sonata and a Bicentennial theme. They are playing these two pieces at Orchestra Hall. The Bicentennial theme was written especially for this concert by Mr. John LaMontaine. Mr. LaMontaine once wrote an opera on the American Revolution for which he received a Pulitzer Prize.
Students interested in attending the concert should see Mr. Blanas for a hall pass permitting them to go. Passes excusing students from classes will be given out at the end of the performance. "Only those students who are really serious about classical music should attend. This is a great opportunity to see these men perform,'' commented Mr. Blanas.

Mr. Brostoff and Mr. Shkolnik will be here for the second time. They came last year through the invitation of Mr. Blanas. Mr. Blanas feels that he should bring as much artistic culture to the students of Maine West as he possibly can, whether it be in painting, music, or any other form of art.

Mr. Blanas added, "I think it will be a memorable experience, and students should get involved. We are privileged to have them back."
