Grapplers Hold
1-0 Conference Record
Maine West's grappling Warriors have started their season with a 3-3 overall record. A victory over Maine South on Dec. 12 gave West a 1-0 conference standing.

The varsity team started their season on Nov. 22 with a loss to Wheeling, 28-17, but came back on Nov. 26 to win big over Prospect, 46-9.

In their meet against Waukegan West the Warriors again came out on top with a 38-16 victory. The following day, however, they fell to the Oak Park Huskies, 26-22.

In their only conference meet this season, the grapplers chalked up a victory against their arch rivals, the Maine South Hawks, on Dec. 12. The stands were filled as the Warriors took the 30-20 decision.

Winners against South were Tom Krauser, Rick Gauger, Rob Krusinski, Kevin Sperling, Louis De Pasquale, Dan Cavasos, Don Miske, Bob Smith, and Mike Tramel with a tie.
In the Fenton Quad Tournament held on Dec. 13, the Warriors beat Wheaton North by a score of 22-21 but lost to Fenton 33-22.

Top performers on this year's varsity squad are Krauser with a 7-0 record, five of which are pins, and Tramel and De Pasquale with six wins apiece.

The freshman team has a record of 3-4-1, beating Wheaton North (40-26), Fenton (39-30), and Holy Cross (37-12). The freshman grapplers lost to Wheeling (39-22), Prospect (40-26), Waukegan West (54-24), and Maine South (45-27), while tying Oak Park (41-41).

The sophomores scored wins against Wheeling (33-27), Prospect (57-9), and Oak Park (65-3), while losing to Waukegan West (32-26), and Maine South (31-26).

The JV team faired well against Prospect winning by a score of 52-15 and also came up on the winning end against Waukegan West (51-11), and Oak Park (37-18). The junior varsity team lost, however, to Wheeling (35-18) and to Maine South (37-18).
