Jane Wyatt Gets Award Of DAR
DAR, the national society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, has announced Jane Wyatt '76 to be this year's winner of the Good Citizenship Award. Jane will receive a pin and a certificate of award in the spring at the Senior Honors Assembly.
The Senior Classes elected three girls for this award, and the faculty elected one. The other two girls were Carol Jacobson and Carol Kale.
Jane was judged on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Her name was sent to the chapter sponsoring the school. Jane will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire, in order that the Illinois Good Citizen may be chosen on the basis of merit.
The aim of the project is to pay tribute to youthful character and to call attention to those qualities which are desirable in good citizens. This is not a popularity contest.
Jane has been very active while attending Maine West. She has been on the Pom Pon Squad, in Pep Club, Brotherhood Society, leaders, V‑Show, President's Council, Class Council, Student Council, Homecoming Court, and Ski Club. She has received a Business Award, and an Economics Award. Jane has also been on the B‑honor roll throughout high school.
She said, 'I am planning on trying out for the musical this year. I am also hoping for a science award in the spring."
A $25 savings bond will go to each winner of the seven DAR divisions. The State's Good Citizen Award winner will receive a $100 government bond. Then $1,000 will go to the National Good Citizen.
