N. Haase To Visit Austria
Nancy Hasse '77 has been selected by an Austrian Club to spend a month in Austria. The club, known as the Burgenlaendischer Gemeinschaft, chose her as one of five girls who participated in a contest held Nov. 16.

The contest required each girl to give a speech in German while important people from Austria such as the Governor of Austria and the Austrian Consul listened. To help the 300 guests get acquainted with the contestants, the girls sold raffle tickets after their speeches. The guests then had to vote for the girl they thought would best represent them in Austria.

The vote was close, but Nancy won. While in Austria, Nancy will stay with her Austrian relatives for part of the time.
Then she will travel around the country, visiting mainly in Burgenland, where her grandparents originally came from.

She will make public appearances as well as getting the chance to spend an eventful day with the president of the club in that country. A speech at the picnic in Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland, will be another highlight of the trip.

Nancy reports that the purpose of the Austrian Club is to promote Austrian brotherhood and to enjoy many social affairs such as dinners and dances.

Nancy, who is also a member of the Modern Dance Club, plays the organ and skis, says that this will be an exciting experience for her.
