Fatma, Anne Tell Feelings of US
Fatma Karahasa and Anne Maurice are this year's foreign exchange students. Fatma is from a small town in Turkey. Her American hostess until July is Julie Claus '76. Fatma has already graduated from her high school in Turkey and is receiving no extra credit.

In Fatma's home land her religion has no Christmas. They do celebrate bringing in the New Year for three days. Fatma enjoyed her Christmas here. She liked the customs we have and the way we celebrate.

Fatma came from a big school in Turkey and has enjoyed Maine West very much. She said Maine is very modern compared to her other school. Fatma likes the people here too. She said they are all very friendly. She also enjoys the sports activities. She enjoys sports and likes to participate.

Fatma is looking forward to her university tests. She is also anxious about her speech competitions in which she is scheduled to participate.
Anne Maurice is from a town 15 miles from Paris, France. She is staying with Kim Dooley '76.

Anne enjoys Maine West very much. It is much different than she thought it would be. She was very surprised by the size of the school. The fact that we changed rooms for every class surprised her also. At her school they very rarely changed rooms.

Anne's Christmas here was not that different from her Christmas at home. In France the people did not decorate their houses as much as they do here. That was the only real change Anne saw.

In France Anne's school work was one of the most important things. After Anne got home from school, she only had time to do a few hours of homework and then go to bed. Now, in the United States, she finds school work is not as important; and she has much more time for fun things. She goes to many parties, has a job, and is also involved with all the activities of A.F.S.
