ME Bests Girl Gymnasts
The girls' gymnastics team faced an undefeated Maine East team on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and were defeated 92.40 - 87.10. Maine East holds first place in the Central Suburban League.

The scores of the meet were all high; and Mrs. Judy Beck, coach of the team, feels that the girls did very well against their strong opponents.

In vaulting, all‑around competitor Sandi Dolatowski placed second with a 7.6 and Mary Kay Gerhardt placed third with a 7.3.

On the balance beam, Joan DeLaet placed second with a 7.55. In the free‑exercise competition, Jill Jeiden placed third with a 7.55.

Usually the scores in a meet range from 5.0 to 7.5 on a scale of 10, but in this meet almost all the scores were in the high sixes and middle sevens.
The junior varsity also lost. Their final score was Maine East, 36.75, and Maine West, 36.50.

Patti Crandall placed first in the vaulting competition with a 6.45, while Linda Lombardo placed second with a 6.3.

On the balance beam Lisa Wolf placed second with a 5.9, and Cathy Touhey placed third with a 5.35.

The gymnastics team competed in the Niles West Invitational last Saturday, Jan. 10. There were 15 schools participating, all the teams in our league, and three others. Results from that meet are not yet available.

The gymnastics team has six meets left this season. Their next one is Jan. 17 at home against Niles East, New Trier West, and New Trier East.
