The music of Richard Rodgers and the words of Oscar Hammerstein will come to life March 17, 18, 19, and 20 as Maine West presents the musical, Oklahoma.
In mid January auditions were held in the auditorium, and the final cast was chosen. Under the direction of faculty director Ms. Nancy Santori and student director Carole Lambdin '77, preparations are being made and parts rehearsed.
The main characters of the musical have been double cast, and their performances will be divided among the four performance dates. Eric Suevel '77 and Bruce Weaver '77 will share the part of Curley McLain; Annette Buck '77 and Sandra Harris 76 will play Laurey Williams; Carrie Mack '76 and Amy Sheetz '77 will be Ado Annie Carnes; and Scott Jackson '76 and Joe Anderson '76 will play Will Parker.
Mary Jo Zalabak '76 has been selected to play the part of Aunt Eller Murphy; Steve Pelinski '77 will play the part of Ali Hakim; Kevin Marquette '78 will play Andrew Carnes; James Evans '77 will play Jud Fry; Scott Olson '77 will be Ike Skidmore; and Amy Robinson '77 will play the part of Gertie Cummings.
Other members of the cast are Rick Kempiak '78 as Cord Elam; Karen Degenhart '76 as Ellen; Traci Sheldon '77 as Vivienne; and Chris Detzner '76 as Virginia. Alice Bartz '76 will play the part of Faye, Bill Atherton '78 the part of Fred, Dave Hanson '76 as Slim, Mike Sheldon '78 as Sam, Richard Lindberg '78 as Mike, and Jerome Roberts '78 as Joe.
Members of the girls' chorus are Barbara Drelecharz '77, Gayle Gyssler '77, Diane Hawks '76, Jeanne Zemaitis '77, Christa Doerner '77, and Sheryl Rohrbein '77. Mike Weber '77 and Tony Gates '76 make up the boys' chorus.
