Valentine Thoughts
By CAROL JACOBSEN

Candy boxes, scarlet ribbons,
Roses along the way.
The symbols are many, but whatever the case,
They all mean Valentine's Day.

A cold winter wind, a warm fire
And someone to smile through the day.
Can't really compare the sense they create
On a wintry Valentine's Day.

A soft hand to touch when the sun sets low,
The moon rises and seems to say,
"Enjoy tonight; by the dawn's light
Will have passed another Valentine's Day."

The day is gone now. The winter bites cold.
The thoughts of warmth to astray.
I know they'll be back like the winter itself
When it comes to next Valentine's Day.

I can't understand it; it doesn't seem right.
The people let time slip away.
They hate and they fight, but set all that aside
When it comes 'round to Valentine's Day.

Candy boxes, scarlet ribbons,
Roses along the way.
I don't see why they don't treat every day
Like just another Valentine's Day.
