MONACEP Plans Films Of America
MONACEP, the Maine‑Oakton‑Niles adult continuing education program, will present a series of movies depicting life in America. These movies will be on various American themes to celebrate America '76.
The first movie will be held at Maine West on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. It is entitled "America the Beautiful," and the lecturer is Mr. Charles Taylor.
The second lecture will be held on Mar. 11, and is titled, "Our Eastern National Parks," The lecturer is Mr. Dennis Cooper. Mr. Cooper comes from the Midwest, and his lecture involves a tour of six national parks east of the Mississippi.
The folklore and customs of the area will be discussed, and the beauty of the land will be shown. These parks include Acadia, Isle Royale, Shenandoah, Mammoth Cave, Everglades, and Great Smoky Mountains.
The third lecture will be held on Apr. 22 and is entitled "Wilderness '76." This lecture involves a raft trip down the Colorado River. Mr. Edward Brigham will discuss the different wildlife found along this trek from Florida to Alaska.
These lectures will be held at Maine West and are part of the new MONACEP Travel Adventure Series. One of the directors of the program, Mr. Allen Walldren, had this to say about the program:
"This particular series was designed to focus on America in the Bicentennial year."
