Girl Gymnasts Defeat South
The Maine West girls' gymnastics team defeated Maine South on Jan. 24. The varsity won taking first, second, and third in every event except vaulting, in which Maine South placed second.

The varsity lost to Niles West on Jan. 20. Maine West lost to Evanston on Jan. 27 with scores of 83.15 to 81.25. Mary Kay Gerhardt came in first for vaulting; Sandy Dolatowski came in second for vaulting; Maureen Mukai placed second on beam; Dottie Galucci took third on bars and floor; and Jill Heiden came in second for floor.

The J.V. defeated Evanston with scores of 22.70 to 20.00. Placing were Elsie Lopez taking first in vaulting and bars, Colleen Monahan second on bars, Cathy Touhey second on beam, Linda Lombardo second on floor, and Lisa Wolf first on floor.
Maine West took first place when they played against New Trier East, New Trier West, and Niles East on Jan. 17. Niles East scored 23.65; New Trier West scored 27.70 points; New Trier East scored 24.75; and Maine West scored 42.05 points.

The J.V. is conference champ this year. The team has 11 wins and 1 loss. They tie for first place with Maine East.

The Maine Quad meet was held yesterday and was the last meet of the season.

Coach Judy Beck said, "With Maine East having already taken the division meet, they should place first in the Maine Quad meet. However, the depth that we have and our string events of vaulting and floor exercise should help us to place second in this meet."
