Students Speak
Dear Editor:
It is not my purpose to run a never‑ending feud with the paper. But as long as you are going to print ridiculous stories like Thom O'Donnell's "Why Do MW Fans Attend Athletic Contests?" I will continue to express my right to disagree.

I know I represent more than a majority of the fans when I say that we come to see the best basketball team that MW has had in the last ten years. When we leave a basketball game so hoarse that we can't talk for three days, you know we aren't going to the game to get out of the house or meet our girlfriends, but to cheer on the basketball team to a winning season.

Thom has not pinched some nerve of truth but has shown his ignorance of our school life. The basketball team has worked too hard to receive an insult like saying the fans come to get out of the house or meet boyfriends or girlfriends. It is mine and I'm sure many others' belief that reporters like Thom should ask the opinions of others before writing such articles.

The fan behavior Thom speaks of may be the atmosphere he's used to being in, but it is not that of the student body. I'm sure the team knows who the true fans are and that maybe by writing his article Thom is defending his reasons for going to the game. Thom's purpose is not that of journalism but that of filling an ego that seems to me unfillable. I'm sure I speak for many by saying that I'm disappointed at the low caliber of the Westerner as of late.
