Swimmers Compete At State
The Maine West Warriors closed off a very successful season with personal best performances in the district conference and state meets these past three weeks. The Warriors finished in fourth place in both the conference and district meet, and forty‑second in the state meet.

On Feb. 13 the Warriors competed in the Central Suburban League Conference meet.

The Warriors competed in the Glenbrook South District Meet on Feb. 21 and qualified four swimmers in three events for the state meet. Schlachter earned an invitation to the meet by meeting the time standards in the 50- and 100-yard free style. Schlachter's time in the 50 established a Warrior record. The Warrior free relay team also qualified for state by meeting the state time.
The state meet for the Warriors was the final stomping ground for the Warriors. Schlachter finished in twenty-seventh place in the 50-yard freestyle, and in twenty-ninth place in the 100-yard free style. The 400-yard free style relay team finished in twenty-first place, despite setting a school record in the event.

The underclassmen closed out their seasons two weeks before the state meet. The junior varsity finished in sixth place in the conference meet while the freshmen finished in second place. The freshmen produced four conference champions the medley relay team of Randy Deck, Dan Dugo, Rob MacNab, and Flint Collier.
