Saturday Is Town Meeting

The city of Des Plaines will hold a Town Meeting tomorrow at Maine West from 9 am - 1 p.m. A registration fee of $1 will be used to offset the costs of the programs offered and refreshments.

The Des Plaines President's Council, representing such service organizations as the Kiwanis, Junior Women's Club, Rotary, Jaycee's, Soroptimists, League of Woman Voters, and the Optimists, is sponsoring the Town Meeting.
The purpose of the old-fashioned Town Meeting is to bring together residents seeking information and solutions to problems within the community. Forums will be held on crime and vandalism, drugs and alcohol, health services, city government and services, and education and environment. The problems of noise, pollution, garbage disposal, and prospects for the Des Plaines River will also be discussed.

The public is invited to come and participate and discuss any of the topics of interest to them. Also, free babysitting will be provided.
