Girls' Track Team Looks Improved

The girls' track team competed against Glenbrook South on Apr. 14 with a final score of Glenbrook South 82, Maine West 46. This was the second meet of the season.

The 440‑yard relay team consisting of Shelly Carpentier, Julie Stenstrom, Maureen Moeller, and Mary Kay Gerhardt placed second with 53:0; their best time of the season so far. Karen George placed third in the two‑mile. Lisa Payne placed second in the 80‑yard low hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles. Judy Gialarowski placed second in the 100‑yard dash with a time of 11:7.

In the 880-yard run Karen Kicullen placed second and Kathy Baumhart placed third. The 880-yard relay team

placed first with a time of 1:52.7. Donna Carstens placed first in the mile, while Denise Carstens placed third. Maine West swept the 220-yard dash with Judy Gialarowski, Shelly Carpentier, and Maureen Moeller placing first, second, and third.

Linda Miller took first in the discus while Ann Vaccarello took third. Mary Kay Gerhardt took first in the high jump, and Judy Gialarowski took second in the long jump.

The first meet against Maine South and Niles East on Apr. 12 ended with a score of Maine South 85, Maine West 53, and Niles East 27. Maine West took five out of a possible 16 first places, but they received many second and third places.
