Morfit Predicts

Once again it's time for Morfit to look into the future and predict what the Class of '77 will be doing 10 years from now.

The scene opens with Steve Hoepfner, owner of the biggest newspaper in the world. I see him continuing to boss around his reporters, Jan Henrikson and Carrie Dierks, as well as photographer, Keith Duncan; cartoonist, Steve Dsida; gossip columnist, Kathy Rohr; and advice columnist, Donna Soranno.

The headlines 10 years from now will be the inauguration of Terhilda Garrido and Donna Mielke as President and Vice-president of the United States. Also, Dean Carpenter will receive a Nobel Peace Prize for his work at the University of Chicago. Brenda Baenke, as director of Brookfield Zoo, will be creating a sensation as she conducts a search for an escaped boa constrictor. Also in the news will be lawyer, Bob DiLeonardi, defending attorney, in the trial of the century

Turning to the entertainment pages, I see Steve Pelinski and Megan Peterson starring in a smash Broadway play, wearing costumes designed by Jeanne Zemaitis. I predict that Jon Pascolini will receive rave reviews as a cello soloist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Also, rock star Carl Stone

will go on a nationwide tour to promote his new album, featuring a cover designed by Doris Weiss. Those who have finer tastes can catch Eric Suevel and Bruce Weaver winning the grand prize on the Gong Show.

Now on to the family section of the paper, where wedding and anniversary announcements include such couples as Jill Bocskay and Don Murray, Jeanne Lombardo and Steve Van Vleck, Kris Kosar and Chris Hawking; and Sue Bradley and Brian Ladd. I see Caryn Hoffstedt dominating the fashion scene with her new line of raincoats, modeled by Cindy Nelson. I see Sue Ranfit featured daily in the society column as she travels around the world from one adventure to another.

In the sports world major leaguer Bob Zuccarini will be holding out as a free agent, demanding a million dollar contract. I can see Brian Tolan winning the decathalon in the 1988 Olympics. John Minardi and Carolyn Matkovic will meet in a battle of the sexes tennis meet on national TV. While Margie Clem performs during halftime, football stars Rob Earhart, Ray Schellenberger, Pat Hartley, and Jim Winicki will lead their team to victory in the Orange Bowl. In addition, Jill Heiden will become the next Nadia Comanechi.

All in all, it is easy to see that this year's graduating class will accomplish a great many feats, whatever the future holds in store for them!
