Parents, Teachers To Get Acquainted at Open House |
||||||||||
| Open House, sponsored by the PTC, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4, and Tuesday, Nov. 9, as part of American Education Week. Periods 7, 8. and 9 will be shortened and school will be dismissed early at 2:40 p.m. on both days. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 7-10 p.m. Parents whose last names begin with the letters A-L will attend on Thursday, and those whose names begin with M-Z are asked to attend on Tuesday. If parents are unable to attend on the specified night, they may attend on the alternate night. Mr. John Graef, assistant principal, had certain feelings about Open House. PTC Open House unquestionably affords excellent opportunity for parents and faculty to become acquainted in the actual instructional setting." He went on to say, "Parents are brought closer to the objectives of the courses taken by their sons and daughters, making possible a deeper understanding of the typical day experienced by high school students." |
Members of the U and U Society, sponsored by Mrs. Joan Plock, will be located throughout the building to give directions concerning the locations of classrooms. Parents are asked to limit their visits to three minutes with each teacher to avoid overcrowding the classrooms. At intervals during each evening, special demonstrations will be given by certain departments. A host and hostess will be selected by each teacher to seat the parents. When asked about how many parents are expected to be present on both nights, Mr. James Coburn, principal, replied, "Approximately 4,000 parents will be present on both nights." Shortly before Open House, students will provide parents with copies of their daily schedule. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. |
