The Museum of Science and Industry will present its thirtyfifth annual Christmas Around the World Festival. The festival will open Friday, Nov. 26, and will continue until Jan. 1. Among the exhibit's highlights is a large forest of 28 Christmas trees, as well as nativity scenes and other displays. They are all decorated in the traditional ways of the various people from different countries. The 18‑foot high trees will be on display in the rotunda during the entire festival. There also will be daily theater programs that will include the yuletide music, pageantry, and customs of many lands. These programs will be presented in the auditorium from Dec. 2‑9. Chicago area choruses, glee clubs, and church choirs will present Christmas choral programs several times daily in the rotunda from Nov. 29‑Dec. 24. |
Delicious holiday dinners, consisting of traditional foods of other lands, will be served daily in the museum's public dining rooms on Dec. 2‑19. Dinner prices in reserved dining rooms are $4.95 (plus tax) for adults and $4.20 (plus tax) for children. Those prices are the same for the Scandinavian buffet and the Hawaiian luau. In the unreserved dining rooms, prices are $4.45 (plus tax) for adults and $3.70 (plus tax) for children. Dinner is served from 5 to 8 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling the museum at (312) MU 4‑1414. There is no admission fee to the festival.
