This year 97 candidates for graduation decided that they would benefit from graduating early. The Fifth Annual MidYear Commencement Exercises of Maine West will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1 in C‑wing gym.
Students graduating early must have completed 18 1/2 units of credit by mid‑year. Parental permission is required. The graduation exercises include a graduation address given by Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, director of student personnel services. Comments will be given by Gayle Grzbieniak, vice‑president of the Senior Class.

Participating in the ceremony will be the Maine West Chamber Orchestra conducted by Mr. Francis Vaupel, playing Handel's "March from Scipio." Mr. James Coburn, principal, will give the welcome. The invocation will be given by the Reverend Mr. Richard Drankwalter. The Maine West Choraliers, led by Mr. Donald Lord, will perform "He Hath Done All Things Well" by Bender and "The Lord's Prayer" by Malotte.
Dr. Michael Myers, assistant superintendent instruction, will present the graduates to Mr. William Schaefle, member of the Board of Education. Other board members aiding in presenting the diplomas will be Mrs. Anne Evans and Mrs. Charlotte Storer.
The orchestra will play "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar for the recessional. The graduates' names will be announced by Mr. John Graef, assistant principal staff.
