Student Council Elections To Be Held Feb. 17‑20

Student Council Elections
In order to give new Student Council officers a chance to gain experience, Student Council elections will be held Feb. 17‑20 instead of in April.

District Speech Tournament
Speaking for Maine West tonight in the District Speech Tournament at Morton High School West are Eric Kinder '77, Fran Kosac '78, Mary McMahon '78, Steve Pelinski '77, Megan Peterson '77, Kathy Sandford '78, Kerry Skora '78, Carola Weis '78, and Jeanne Zemaitis '77.

Girl's Choice Dance
Freewheeling is the band that has been chosen for this year's Girl's Choice Dance. The dance will be held on Thursday, March 3, and will last from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Tickets for the dance cost $4. There is a prize for the person who buys the one hundredth ticket.

College Bound
The Illinois, State Monetary Award and the Basic Education Opportunity Grant forms are now available in the Career Office. See Mr. James Killam any time in his office to obtain these forms.

Women's Week
The week of Feb. 28 through Mar. 4 at Maine West has been declared Women's Week. During this week many women speakers will come to give talks on various subjects pertaining to women. Also during this week there will be a night assembly which will have such events as mixed arm wrestling, tug‑of‑war, pie eating contests, and a basketball game.

Secret Admirer's Day
This Valentine's Day, Monday, Feb. 14, is your chance to show that certain someone that you care. Boys, buy that special girl one red and one white carnation; and girls, buy that special fellow either a red or a white one. Remember no one needs to know who sends the flower for they will be delivered in homeroom by Student Council.

Deadlines Nearing
Remember the Lutheran General Health Clinic Scholarship deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 15, and the Elk's Club Most Valuable School Leadership Contest's deadline is Thursday, Feb. 10.
