Badminton To Defend Crown

The Maine West girls' badminton team is working hard to defend last year's title of Central Suburban League Champions of the south division. The varsity badminton team owns a 3‑0 record and the junior varsity a 2‑1 record.

At their first home meet on Feb. 25 the varsity team was victorious over Niles West with a score of 6‑1. At Glenbrook North on Feb. 22 the varsity and junior varsity both won, each scoring 4‑3. At their first meet on Feb. 17 against Glenbrook South, the varsity level won with a score of 4‑3; and the junior varsity lost with a score of 2‑5.

The team is rather young but have made improvement and show potential," said Coach Royleen Tipton. We've been very successful early this season and do have some tough matches coming up; and I'm sure we'll do very well this season."

The members of the varsity team are Bard Klein, Sue Lindeman, Leanne Larocca, Carolyn Miller, Beth Reinke, Julie Stenstrom, Michalle Wainscott, Nancy Webber, Denise Jenderzak, and Linda Bergles.
