District 207 is celebrating its seventy‑fifth anniversary this year. The Diamond Jubilee (the diamond is the symbol for 75 years) is being observed by all the Maine Township High Schools.
District 207 was begun in 1902.
The first and only school was Thacker School, which was torn down long ago. Maine East was the next school added to the district followed by Maine West, Maine South, and the newest, Maine North.
The four‑. Maine Township schools will be celebrating the anniversary in many different ways. The four schools will combine to present a choral concert at Maine East. Singers from each school will participate. Admission to the concert will be through tickets which will be made available to everyone. The number of tickets that will be available will be limited due to the seating capacity at Maine East.

Some other things that have and will be done in honor of the Diamond Jubilee are the dedication of concerts and art exhibits, special programs, and he themes of some schools' Homecomings. All the stationery used by the school employees carries a special Diamond Jubilee logo designed by Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the Art Department at Maine West.
Some interesting anniversary activities are taking place here at Maine West. A special film is in the process of being made by Mr. Blanas and a Maine West graduate, Kevin Dole '68. The film will depict all the various changes that have taken place in Maine Township from its very beginning until now. The film will show the changes that have come about in fashion, hair styles, and the general feelings and attitudes of the students from the beginning of district to the present day.
Mr. Blanas, Maine West's representative to the Diamond Jubilee committee, commented on the anniversary celebration. He feels, "Everyone should be conscious of the Diamond Jubilee and the changes that have taken place in the district. We have gone from one small high school to four large schools, and so much more is now available to the students that they should be aware of all the schools have to offer."
