Brian Tolan Scores High In Annual Math Contest

Math Contest Held
Fifty students from accelerated math courses and Advanced Math III or IV competed in a Math Contest held Mar. 8. The purpose of the contest was to further an interest in mathematics. Brian Tolan '77 had the highest score for all of the Maine Township schools receiving 86 out of a possible 150 points. Steve Hoepfner '77 followed with 70 points, and Rick Dsida '78 had 62 points. Maine West's team score of 218 points will be submitted to the chairman of the contest to be ranked against other schools on a nationwide basis.

A.C.T. Tests To Be Given
The A.C.T. tests will be given Apr. 2 starting at 7:30 a.m. The cafeteria, rooms A-201, A-222, B-202, L-106, and R-209 will be used as testing rooms. A.C.T. tests are given five times a year for juniors as college entrance examinations. Results of the test will be sent to three scholastic agencies.

Spring Vacation
School will not be in session Monday, Mar. 28, through Friday, Apr. 1, due to spring break. School will be out today and resume Monday, Apr. 4. Also, school will not be in session on Good Friday, Apr. 8.

Spanish Club Dinner
The Maine West Spanish Club recently cooked an entire Spanish dinner with the help of Miss Heidi Rupp, Spanish Club sponsor. The dinner consisted of paella, tortillas, flan, sangria, and guacamole. The club treasury paid for the food used in the dinner. Other items were donated by club members.
