Bill Mukai, a Maine West 1975 graduate and English Departmental Award Winner for 1975, is now a writer for the USC University of Southern California) engineering magazine and the school paper, The Daily Trojan.

While Bill was at Maine West, he went out for sports and was on the basketball team all four years and was on the baseball team his freshman year. He was also on the A‑honor roll all four years and was on the National Honor

Society his junior and senior years. Bill was in the Colloquium Club his last two years and also received a Science Award in each of his last three years.

According to Mr. Daniel Silkowski, chairman of the Maine West English Department, "This journalistic activity is evidence that our choice for the Departmental Award Winner was a good one and demonstrates that our English and journalism programs produce students who continue to reflect our instructional success."
