Diamondmen Ready For
New Season

As spring comes to Maine West, the state contending Warriors ready themselves for their 1977 baseball schedule.

After coming off an impressive year last spring and an excellent summer season, the Warriors are a top contender for this year's state tournament.

Last summer Coach Al Carstens' Warriors went to the state finals at Chicago's Comiskey Park only to fall in a heartbreaker and finish second.

The Warriors have many returning veterans from last year's squad have a good crop of juniors to add to the tremendous depth of the '77 edition of the varsity Warriors.

This year's outlook is excellent as the Warriors have solid pitching arms in the likes of Rob Earhardt, Glenn Rollo, Ron Rausch, Steve Van Vleck, Phil Edwards, and Bob Tasovac. The remainder of the battery is also strong with Wayne Wishnew and Willie Garesche handling the chores behind the plate.

The infield of Bob Zuccarini, Dean Carpenter, Forest Wantroba, Russ Kleisner, and Jeff Deckrow are all capable. the Warrior outfielders, Bob Anderson, Tim Playtek, and Marty Behlerking, concluded the line‑up that can make for an exciting and prosperous spring baseball season.

The varsity Warriors will open their season Apr. 2 against Oak Park at Oak Park, with the loss of second baseman Tim Adams who is out with a wrist injury.
