Student Council Plans Activities
Student Council has announced its plans for the 1977-78 school year, following the traditional calendar.
The Council's first major operation will be this year's Homecoming, which will be the week of Oct. 17-22. The football game, formal dance, and parade will be held on the weekend.
In November, Student Council will be sponsoring the annual V-Show. This year's variety show will be entitled "Visions," and will run from Nov. 17-19. Fortunately this year's production will not meet with any of the problems caused by construction, as was the case last year.
As in the past, the council will hold a canned food and penny drive for charities before Thanksgiving vacation.
Student Council will be sponsoring Christmas Formal Dance which has been scheduled for Dec. 17. Also this year, Student Council will deliver Christmas cards.
Plans are vague until February when the council will again help young romance with Secret Admirers' Day. Girls and guys will have the opportunity of sending flowers anonymously to one another.
In the spring, there are also many interesting activities planned. In March, Council will sponsor the Girls' Choice Dance. In April, the Student Council elections for new officers will be held. In May, will be the Student Council banquet. Student Council has something new for this year. It will be holding Student Administration seminars to help improve the relationship of faculty and students. Four of these are planned for this year, the first was held on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
When asked what the council's goals are, president Ellen Christ '78 replied, "Our goal for this year is to become more involved in school, get more publicity, have a better relationship with the faculty, and to get involved in many more activities."
