Boys' Track Begins Season
The outdoor track team opened their season on Apr. 11 losing to Palatine, 72-86, but defeating Wheeling, 72-28.

The Warriors lost to a strong Palatine team who qualified two men for state. Chuck Elliott and Tim Johnson qualified in the two‑mile and one‑mile runs respectively.

The Warriors also have some possible state qualifiers, in the pole vault‑Chet Phillips and Tim Monahan. The 440 relay team composed of Monahan, Asian, Martin, and Ostrowksi (probably best in conference) could also qualify. Shotput and discus throwers, Vince Webster and Jim Enders also have a chance at state qualification. In the track section leaders are: Dave Ahlman, Morris Danielson, and Jukka Kallio. The Warriors will battle Maine East and Maine South for the conference crown.
On Apr. 13 the Warriors faced Fremd and Hersey High Schools tri-meet. The Warriors lost to Fremd, 26-86, and Hersey, 26-67.

The Fremd team is favored to win the Mid‑Suburban Conference and is in the top five in the state. Last year they qualified four men for state: Inbody (two‑mile), Ratcliffe (one‑mile), Finis (shotput) and Weinberg (sprint).

The Warriors' soph-frosh team is also strong although they lost to Fremd, 34-66, and Hersey, 34-73. They defeated Wheeling, 64-22, and lost to Palatine, 64-84. The Warriors are led by Bob Fisher, Mario Guerrero, Jeff Walsh, Pius Periaswamy, Dwight Bohne, Randy Burke, and Kevin Bayer.

The varsity team is 1-3, and the soph-frosh team is also 1-3. The varsity runs in the Pirate Relays tomorrow.
