Rick Dsida Wins Merit Scholarship
Richard Dsida '78 has been notified that he has earned a Shell Merit Scholarship providing financial assistance for a four‑year college education.
Rick qualified for the scholarship as a top‑scoring student in the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. He is one of 10 recipients of such scholarships offered by the Shell Companies Foundation Inc., through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for young people planning careers as teachers of pre‑college science or mathematics.
The 10 Shell Merit Scholarship winners were chosen from among students who attained finalist standing in the 1978 Merit Scholarship Program.
Rick will study to be a biomedical engineer at Marquette University. During high school, he has received science and social science awards. Rick is also a member of the National Honor Society and was named an Illinois State Scholar.
He was also recruited by many colleges for his talents with the basketball team.
