Mike Clark Named SAR Winner
Mike Clark '78 has been awarded the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Good Citizen medal from Maine West. Mike, a senior, was chosen on a basis of dependability as evidenced by the record of punctuality, truthfulness, honesty, loyalty, trustworthiness, and selfcontrol.

Cooperation was evidenced by the record in respect to authority, respect for property, respect for the right of others, and courtesy. Leadership was evidenced by what the student has done to make the school a better school, along with patriotism to his country and school.

The aim of the Sons of the American Revolution is to pay tribute to youths who exhibit the qualities which are desirable in a good citizen.

The students of the Senior Class were asked to select three boys from the Senior Class who best qualified in showing good citizenship. Of these three students, the faculty was asked to select one.

Mike Clark has been very active at Maine West during his four years. He was a member of the football and basketball teams; he has participated in Student Council, the Simulation Club, and the Debate Team. Mike went to Illinois Boy's State last summer and participated in the Des Plaines Youth Appreciation Week as Police Chief. He was also given the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce Involvement Award.

When Mike was asked how he felt about being chosen for the SAR award, he replied, "I'm very pleased; it is quite an honor to be selected for the award."

Mike will attend St. John's University in Minnesota, where he will study prelaw. He hopes to play basketball as well. Mike will receive his award along with the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) winner, Ellen Christ '78, at the honors assembly in June.
