Tonight
Maine West To Hold Avenue of the Arts
Two years ago "Avenue of the Arts," was just an idea. Now it has become the major spring event, replacing the traditional Art Show. The show will begin tonight at 7 p.m. and will conclude at 10 p.m. Participating departments are art, English, drama, home economics, industrial arts, music, physical education, and science.

These departments will each have their own colors to represent their avenues. The colors are orange, for the Art Department, located in E‑wing, which will include paintings, drawings, ceramics, and photography. Yellow, located in the music rooms, is for the Music Department, will feature solos of various instruments from students. The Avenue of brown, located in L‑wing, is for the Home Economics Department, and will include a mini fashion show, and a doll house from the home planning and interior design classes.
Physical Education will be Avenue green, in A-wing, with a show of gymnastics from students, and a performance from the synchronized swim team, in the pool area. The English Department will be Avenue white in R-209. Avenue black in the Rider Gymnastium, will show crafts made in industrial arts classes; and finally Avenue red, in the cafeteria, will be based upon art exhibits and student demonstrations.

Other added attractions will be poetic readings, comedy and dramatic monologues, a dance performed by some of the Orchesis members, creative stitchery, and an art sale.

Each of these departments have put a lot of time and effort into the "Avenue of the Arts" to make it a success, and they feel it would be worth everyone's time to come and see "Avenue of the Arts."
