Track To Vie In Titan Meet
The Maine West outdoor track team placed seventh out of 15 teams at the Prospect Invitational. The Warriors scored 16 points and tied with Arlington and Prospect. The meet was held at Prospect last Friday.
York won the meet with 54 points followed by Larkin with 40; Lyons with 38; Hersey, 22; Lane Tech, 20 1/2; Zion-Benton with 17 1/2; and Maine West, Prospect, and Arlington with 16.
At the Pirate Relays held at Proviso East on Apr. 22 the Warriors placed eighth out of 12 teams. Evanston won the meet with 99 points followed by Thornridge with 72; host Proviso East with 61; Bloom with 50; Proviso East with 35; Lane Tech. 24; Mendel Catholic. 16; and Maine West, 11; Joliet West, 10; and Loyola, 7. Individual winners for the Warriors were the spring medley team which came in fourth; the 880‑relay team also fourth; and Tim Monahan and Chet Phillips placed fourth and fifth respectively in the pole vault.
On Apr. lithe Warriors lost to Palatine and defeated Wheeling in a dual meet by a score of Palatine, 86; Maine West, 68; and Wheeling, 22.
Individual winners for the Warriors were the 440‑yd. and relay, Dennis Ostrowski in the 330‑yd. low hurdles, Vince Webster in the shot put and discus, Pete Baksa in the triple jump, and Phillips in the pole vault.
On frosh-soph team the Warriors lost to Palatine, 94-44, but defeated Wheeling, 44-27. Individual winners for the Warriors were Norman Krause in the 880-yard run and Perry Carlini in the shotput.
The Warriors' next meet is tomorrow at the Titan Invitational at Glenbrook South.
