Girls' Track Wins Meet
The Maine West girls' track team notched its fifth victory in six encounters as they rolled over Glenbrook North, 72 to 51, in a home meet held on Tuesday, May 2. The team also did well in the conference meet held on May 6 at Glenbrook South.

The Warriors scored points in every one of the 12 individual events, on May 2, including 10 first and 5 seconds, in the best balanced team effort of the season. In all, 18 girls placed in the meet for West.

Individual winners included Karen George in the two‑mile run; Lisa Payne in both hurdle events; Jymette Bonnivier in the 880‑yard dash; Julie Stenstrom in the 440‑yard dash; Donna Carstens in the mile run; Shelly Carpentier in the 220 yard dash; Linda Miller in the discus; Joan Clifford in the high jump; and Judy Gielarowski in the long jump.
Excellent individual scoring efforts were also provided by Joyce Hanachek in the two‑mile run; Margie O'Keefe in the 220 hurdles; Diane Schneider in the 100‑yard dash; Lori Tonske in the 440 yard dash; Kathy Baumhart in the mile run; and Anne Vaccarello in the discus and shotput.

The Warriors competed in the Central Suburban League meet at Niles West on Saturday, May 6. The Warriors placed fifth out of seven schools in the competition. Other schools participating were Maine South, Maine East, Glenbrook North, Glenbrook South, Waukegan East, and Niles West.

The Warriors competed in a tough 21‑team District Meet at Fremd High School on May 15. It was cancelled on May 13 and rescheduled for May 15.
