After the opening ceremonies, Mr. James Coburn, principal, will introduce Patricia Miller, the Senior Class president. Patti will make a welcome address and introduce the Maine Scholars. After her introduction, two of the Maine Scholars will speak. When these two speeches are concluded, the graduating class will sing the Maine West Alma Mater.
Mrs. Charlotte Storer, a member of the Board of Education, will present watches to three members of the faculty who have served 25 years in the Maine Township School District. These teachers are Mr. Albert Carstens, Mr. William Hoag, and Mr. Elwood Hughes.
Dr. Richard Short, superintendent, will then present the class to the Board of Education president, Mrs. Anne Evans, who will accept the class. The two Board members present, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Storer, will present diplomas to the graduating class. The graduates names will be announced by Mr. Daryl Schultz and Mr. George Walker.
The commencement ceremonies will conclude with the Commencement Band's playing of "Fanfare and Recessional," and the "University Grand March" for the recessional.
