Aquiana To Present 'Tune In'
"Tune In" is the title of this year's Aquiana show to be presented Oct. 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. in the Maine West pool. Tickets cost $1 and can be purchased from Aquiana members.
The theme of the show is based on radio programs. The swimming skits will be choreographed to represent various programs heard on the radio, such as sports and news. They will also cover different types of music from classical to modern tunes.
Several of the girls choreographed the show with the help of their two sponsors, Mrs. Peggy Mitchell and Ms. Hope Needelman. In addition to these other skits, Janice Locke '81, Vickie Kadlec '78 and Lisa Holmbeck '78 will perform solos.
Officers of this year's Aquiana Synchronized Swim Club are Lisa Holmbeck, president; Eileen Kramer '79, vice‑president; and Karen Eschenbach '79, treasurer.
Other members include Estella Delgrado '80, Bridget Doherty '80, Heidi Eilken '81, Fran Grossi '80, Patty Glysing '80, Donna Hill '80, Vickie Kadlec '78, Lisa Kirkpatrick '80, Debbie Kruse '81, and Martha Lara '80.
Also, there is Janice Locke '81, Mary McAndrews '79, Julie Meyers '79, Mary Morgan '80, Beth Papucci '80, Lynn Paulsen '79, Deb Peters '81, Linda Reppert '80, Sue Rieck '79, Addiz Saria '80, Karen Tanka '78, and Debbie Wink '81.
Tryouts were held Sept. 12. The 28 girls were chosen on their ability to perform different stunts in either a beginner, intermediate, or advanced category.
A change in the sports schedule this year, placing boy's swimming in the spring, affected the show. This moved the Aquiana show, normally seen in April, to October, so rehearsal time has been cut down. "The change in schedule really puts a pressure on the girls, but hopefully everything will turn out all right," said Eileen Kramer.
After "Tune In" is finished, the club will still hold meetings and might enter competition with other organizations.
