V‑Show Rehearsals Get Underway
"Visions" is becoming a reality as students work energetically on the 1977 Maine West V-Show. "Visions" will be presented on Nov. 17-19 at 8 p.m. in the Maine West auditorium. A matinee performance for community groups and Maine West students with I.D. cards will be presented on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m.

After the week of tryouts, Sept. 19-23, the faculty director, Ms. Carla Oleck; the faculty musical director, Mr. Paul Magnusson; and the two student directors, Fran Kosac '78, and Kevin Marquette '78 met to choose which acts would be included in the show. Ms. Oleck emphasized that "the enthusiastic turnout at tryouts was greatly appreciated. I'm glad that so many students came to tryouts with their ideas and talents. It made it harder to choose which acts should be in the show, but I'm very enthusiastic about the acts which are in "Visions." They have great potential to make for an interesting, entertaining Variety Show."

Acts for "Visions" began their rehearsals last week and much of the show is still in its beginning stages. One thing is certain about "Visions"; it will be organized. Sixteen of the acts are written, choreographed, or arranged by students.
Included in the V‑Show are two Woody Allen scripts, a take‑off on "Rocky," a few original guitar solos, a rock band, material from "Saturday Night Live," an original piano composition, a performance by the Choraliers and 20 faculty members will be part of an act which includes a satire on students and classes at Maine West.

The dance chorus for "Visions" includes Rubi Agana '78, Michelle Henrickson '80, Janice Johnson '80, Diane Lorenz '79, Tara Nesbit '78, Debbie Preiss '80, Margaret Sjostrand '79, Diane Thing '80, Ellen Tolstad '79, Donna Vilkaitis '79, Barb Warner '80, and Ann Zemaitis '78.

Tickets will go on sale on Oct. 20 in the bookstore and possibly in the cafeteria. The cost is $2 per ticket.

The acts will rehearse in the auditorium but not on the new stage, which will be completed Oct. 15. This will result in minor conflicts with the crews, especially the construction crew which has to postpone major works of scene construction until Oct. 15.

Sign-up sheets for crews are posted outside L-103 for students who wish to help with V-Show.
